WorkforceRI is an initiative of the Rhode Island Governor’s Workforce Board (GWB) in collaboration with public and nonprofit organizations.
The mission of WorkforceRI is to simplify the employer experience and more easily connect employers to the range of programs and services that are available to help meet their workforce needs. By doing so, the workforce system can better serve our job seeker clients by opening up more opportunities for employment and career advancement.
The Governor’s Workforce Board is Rhode Island’s primary policy-making body on workforce development matters and invests in a range of programs and services that serve hundreds of companies and thousands of workers annually. The GWB uses part of the assessment of employers’ taxable payroll, known as the Job Development Fund, to fund initiatives to help employers meet their demand for talent. The GWB is also responsible for implementation of the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, and any successor law. WorkforceRI is consistent with the Board’s statutory responsibilities to meet the workforce needs of Rhode Island’s employers as described in RIGL Chapter 42-102.
The Governor’s Workforce Board would like to acknowledge and thank the Rhode Island Foundation who provided the initial development funds for WorkforceRI.
